Professor Seppo Vainio’s group in new Business Finland Leading Company ecosystem

The research group of GeneCellNano Flagship’s Vice Director, Professor Seppo Vainio from the University of Oulu, is part of the new VALABio (VALorization of Animal-based By-products into BIOactive innovations) consortium. VALABio is part of Business Finland’s Leading Company (Veturi) ecosystems, and a joint effort by University of Helsinki, the University of Oulu and Seinäjoki University of Applied Sciences together with industry partners Valio, Hankkija, Canatu, GMM Finland, Orion Pharma, Vetcare, HKFoods, Brinter and Ginolis.

The work by Prof. Vainio’s team centers on exosome/EV analytics and biosensor interface development, including generation of readout compatibility for detection platforms and development of bioactivity assays and in vitro models for testing exosome uptake and functionality.
