Role in project: in vivo-like in vitro cell culture models, stem cell-derived extracellular vesicles

Research and expertise: My primary objectives include the development of physiologically relevant in vitro cell culture models and addressing challenges that hinder the potential of extracellular vesicle therapies.  My research group focusses on producing in vivo-like in vitro cell culture models incorporating state of the art techniques  such as 3D culture, physiological oxygen, biomaterials and liquid flow. We use various human cell types in our research, including cancer cell lines, primary cells, adult stem cells and pluripotent stem cells. We study the therapeutic potential of stem cell-derived extracellular vesicles and the role of extracellular vesicles in metastasis.
