Role in project: Vascular and endothelial cell biology, novel treatment strategies for ischemic, neovascular and neurodegenerative diseases, advanced microscopy imaging.
I’m research group leader in the Faculty of Biochemistry and Molecular Medicine at University of Oulu and the Director of Biocenter Oulu infrastructures. My laboratory has a special interest on vascular biology and metabolic waste clearance mechanisms in the central nervous systems. In the Flagship, my team contributes to the identification of signaling pathways and target molecules for the development of new treatment strategies for vascular and neurodegenerative eye diseases. Research interests: Vascular morphogenesis and remodeling, endothelial cell signaling, pathophysiology of vascular diseases, neurodegeneration.
